CRASH: Chicago vs. Nashville Improv Comedy

FuseBox Theatre teams up with Chicago-based improv team “Michael Pizza”
for a night of high-energy long-form improv comedy. The two ensembles will perform improvised sets inspired by one another’s stories, and then play together for totally new kind of CRASH show!

The “Michael Pizza” Show

Michael Pizza is a fun, high-energy improv foursome hailing from Chicago. Their unique form utilizes complex environments, sharp dialogue and dynamic characters that result in hilarious relationships. From a single suggestion, they present a group portrait by introducing the audience to unique characters and sending them through a set of organically connected scenes to produce a brand of comedy that you won’t see anywhere else. Members of Michael Pizza have trained at renowned improv comedy theaters such as Second City, The Annoyance, ComedySportz and iO Theater and can be seen performing regularly on stages throughout the Windy City.

Brett Elam
Brett Elam is a Nashville native who moved to Chicago in 2006 to study improvisation. He can be seen regularly at the legendary iO theater performing with the house team Owl Farm or just watching shows and generally loving improv. When he’s not performing, he travels with the country music singer Kenny Chesney, hosting his sold out stadium tour.

Josh Logan
Josh Logan started his improv training with the main stage cast of Cleveland’s Second City Theater. After the theaters close Josh moved to Chicago to pursue his improv training at the legendary iO theatre where he currently performs on the house ensemble Owl Farm. During his off time he is interested in promoting friendship and goodwill to the residents and pedestrians of Chicago’s Wrigleyville area.

Eric Christensen
Eric Christensen started his improv career in a Kentucky High School performing competitively on school’s Speech Team. From there he continued his improv education by teaming up with the group Community Floss at the University of Southern Illinois. Moving to Chicago in 2007, Eric has studied at and performs at the historic iO Theater and Comedysportz. With an upcoming marriage in January, Eric is rethinking his financial position in his career as an improviser.

Ben Cass
Ben Cass hails from Iowa, where he received a degree in Theatre Performance from UNI. His Chicago stage credits include Waiting for Lefty with Backstage Theatre and Hamlet with Polarity Theater Ensemble. Ben can currently be seen performing with the iO Theatre team Owl Farm and in Theatre Momentum’s new show, Jigsaw.

Oh man! Nashville vs. Chicago, the two most storied improv cities of all time. Together at last! Michael Pizza vs. Fusebox, the two most decorated improv groups in history. Finally in the same building! Eric Christensen vs. Matt Jackson, the two most celebrated improvisers in the galaxy. On one stage!

Surely Eric is not giving up Improv for marriage. I saw him in Chicago and Minneapolis. He’s great! What would his mother say?
